It is bordered by Egypt to the north, the Red Sea to the northeast, Eritrea to the east , Ethiopia to the southeast, South Sudan to the south the Central African Republic to the southwest, Chad to the west and Libya to the northwest.

There is no Sudanese Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Sudanese Embassy in India does not process visa for Bangladeshi passport holders. An applicant must apply to nearest Embassy which in Pakistan.

Visa Regulations of the Republic of the Sudan
- Two application form must be submitted with valid information.
- The passport must be valid for six months.
- Visa fee in favor of Embassy of Sudan, Islamabad, Pakistan.
- Approval of the sponsors and the valid documents.
- A confirmed return ticket.
- A letter from the chamber of commerce is needed for the business visa.
- Only single entry visa.
