What to do in Dubai? The things that you can do in Dubai.

dubai

Dubai is a city and emirate in the United Arab Emirates known for luxury shopping, ultramodern architecture, and a lively nightlife scene. Burj Khalifa, an 830m-tall tower, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline. At its foot lies Dubai Fountain, with jets and lights choreographed to music. On artificial islands just offshore is Atlantis, The Palm, a resort with water and marine-animal parks.

Burj Khalifa

It’s the tallest building in the world with a staggering 160 floors and looms at 828 meters high. It opened in January 2010 after six years of construction and is probably Dubai’s most iconic landmark and holds plenty of world records. While there you can go up to the 148th floor and marvel at views of the city or stop off on the 148th floor at the world’s highest restaurant, Atmosphere. It also has the world’s highest lounge on the 152nd floor.

Right next to the Burj Khalifa is The Dubai Mall. To call the sprawling development merely a shopping mall is doing it a disservice. Even an entire day spent here isn’t enough to see it all. Along with its 1,200-plus shops and 150 restaurants, the venue is home to an indoor theme park, an ice rink, a huge indoor waterfall, a choreographed outdoor fountain, and the giant Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo.

Burj Al Arabburj al arab

The Burj Al Arab Jumeirah is one of the most iconic buildings in the Middle East, if not the world. The sail-shaped structure is one of a kind and the hotel is synonymous with luxury. Head to Skyview Bar for inventive mixed drinks with a view, or visit Scape Restaurant and Lounge for a gorgeous outdoor terrace. Meanwhile Gold on 27 is a bucket list place for a swanky mixed beverage.

The Dubai Fountain

The Dubai Fountain

The Dubai Fountain, located at the base of the iconic Burj Khalifa and just outside the doors of the famous The Dubai Mall, features the world’s largest choreographed fountain system. This popular dancing water show jets water streams as high as 150 meters in the air. Each colorful, illuminated jet sways in time to various musical numbers from around the world, producing what has become one of the most popular shows in Dubai.

Global Village

More than 70 countries are represented with themed stalls, shows, presentations and attractions at what has grown to become a global-themed part-funfair, part-cultural festival, and part-market. There are more than 100 themed kiosks offering street food from around the world, while the huge main stage hosts performances every weekend

Kite Beach

The aptly-named Kite Beach is the perfect spot to test out your watersports skills, but there’s plenty to do out of the water at this popular spot, too! Grab a smoothie from one of the many open-air cafes and restaurants just steps from the beach, watch bikers and skaters fly by at the skate park or get into a game of volleyball with your friends. With plenty of beach activities, plus an awesome view of the Burj Al Arab, it’s easy to spend the whole day here.

Jumeirah Beach

Within walking distance of the Burj Al Arab is arguably Dubai’s best strip of public sand. Sun-seekers come to this lively shoreline to revel in Dubai’s bright rays, while water sports enthusiasts take advantage of the calm, turquoise waters of the Persian Gulf. Jumeirah Beach is also equipped with a children’s playground and plenty of barbecue and picnic areas. Just make sure you come early as the area grows steadily more crowded throughout the day.

Dubai’s desert

You can experience the marvels of the Arabian Desert, the original tourist attraction of Dubai. Take a desert safari Dubai-style with off-roading, quad biking and sandboarding followed by traditional barbeques, henna and camel rides. Or just drive out and experience the wonder of the desert on an adventure of your own. Those looking for luxury should indulge in a Heritage Dinner Safari.

Dubai Creek

Head to the old town and embrace Dubai’s past with a sail across Dubai Creek. Abras cross the water every minute or so and will cost you just Dhs1. It’s a short trip to the other side, but it’ll take you back to everything Dubai is really about.
